MEDIA WATCH
As seen on TV...
- Tom Taylor and "Merv Hughes-alike" Mike Gould playing out the Wales vs England football World Cup qualifier in Subbuteo for Channel 4's Guardian Sports Show. Filmed at the Peldroed Bwrdd shop in Knighton, ahead the full sized match in September 2005, Taylor's Wales beat Gould's England's 13-1 in an one-sided contest. Alas for the Red Dragons, whilst the English goal total transpired to be accurate, Wales' unlucky 13 became an even unluckier nil at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
- Daniel Tatarsky brandishing a yellow card in the direction of England footballing prodigy Wayne Rooney, in his role as a referee in the advertisement, shown extensively across European TV and cinemas during September and October 2005, for the FIFA 2006 game on the Sony Playstation. The footage was shot at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona in August 2005 and forced Tatarsky to miss a Putney league meeting.
- SSTFA official Mike Burns - or rather his hand - playing table football against Spanish golfer Seve Ballesteros in the "Mystery Guest" round of BBC TV's A Question of Sport at the end of September 2005. Keeping with a football theme, the BBC representative had two Toffs football shirts made up in record time, a Chelsea top and a Bilbao top, on the understanding that Seve was a fan of both clubs. Unfortunately Seve's UK agent got it horribly wrong and when the golfer turned up for filming, he revealed that he was a Racing Santander fan!
- Daniel Tatarsky, again, in a fleeting appearance as a white van driver in the ITV comedy series "Mike Bassett - Manger" in October 2005.

- Misleading story ran by several local newspapers in mid-Wales in September 2005, suggesting that FISTF had turned down an approach for the international team event at October’s Welsh Table Football Festival to be officially recognised, after the Italian and English associations complained that they would not be able to field their strongest teams on the set date. In fact no provision exists for such a category of tournament, and Italy would not be represented at the tournament in Knighton anyway.
