Bob Varney won his first major title since returning to the game by defeating Chris Thomas in the final of the Dumfries International Open.
The Milton Keynes player enjoyed a string of tournament victories up until his retirement in 1989, though apart from veteran titles - most noticeably at last season's Italian Grand Prix - and national events, top-level success had eluded him since his comeback in 2003.
But a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Thomas sealed the international title in Scotland.
In the final, Varney took a first half lead and then closed the game out in a goalless second.
Indeed his whole tournament success was built on a solid defence as Varney conceded just one goal in his six games - that coming against Kevin Christopher in the group stage.
Tricky opposition in the shape of Peter Thomas (2-0) and an in-form Gary Moore (1-0) was overcome in the early knock-out rounds, ahead of a 2-0 semi-final win over the ever-improving David Russell.
Dave Pawsey was the other semi-finalist - losing by a single goal to teammate Thomas - as the EPL followed up their team success on Saturday by providing three players in the last four of the individuals.
Pawsey though can feel aggrieved at the manner of his semi-final defeat.
The Bristol player dominated the encounter from the start, putting Thomas' goal under constant pressure and forcing a number of saves.
However one save made by Thomas sent the ball down the other end of the pitch, and seemingly out for a goal-flick, but he managed to flick a figure from his own shooting to connect with the moving ball and cut it into the net for an amazing strike.
Greg Dand may also have a slight sense of injustice over his first round exit.
The original draw had presented Scotland's best hope of success with a fairly straightforward group. But the revised version - necessitated as several players from the same clubs had been drawn together - put him in a proverbial "group of death" alongside Peter Thomas and Kenny Beggs.
With Beggs defeating Dand 1-0 in the opening game, and then playing out a goalless draw with Thomas, the Scotsman had to beat Thomas in order to qualify - and his thrilling 3-3 draw wasn't enough.
Gareth Christie - the host nation's top performer - saw his tournament ended by two goals from David Russell in the last 8. A late consolation couldn't spark a fight back, as Russell avenged defeat in the previous day's team final.
Phil Redman made a successful debut at domestic veterans' level by taking the trophy with a 3-0 victory over table soccer specialist Jeff Jordan in the final.
Local player Dean Aitken won the under-19 final against Matt Lishman, who beat Sam Curtis on shots in the final of the non-ranking under-15 event.
The field in the categories was decimated though by a number of very late withdrawals, as the Scottish weather took its toll, severing disrupting the travel arrangements of many players.

The English Premier League took the Scottish Grand Prix team event for a fifth successive season, with a close fought victory over Hot Club d'Ecosse.
Though the Dumfries final was won 3-1 on games, each individual contest was decided by a single goal apart from Peter Thomas' 3-0 success over Robert Ramsay.
And at the halfway point, the tie was level, with three games goalless and Dave Pawsey and Greg Dand drawing 1-1.
However the English side pulled ahead following the interval, Peter Thomas scoring first against Robert Ramsay before adding a second not long after.
Chris Thomas made it 2-0 on games by taking the lead over Mike Burns and Pawsey increased the advantage further with a goal against Dand.
Gareth Christie reduced arrears when he scored the only goal of his game against David Russell to record a noticeable victory, but it wasn't enough as Hot Club were again the bridesmaids at the Scottish team Grand Prix.
Hosts Solway Seagulls restricted EPL to a 2-0 victory in the semi-finals, whilst Hot Club beat Yorkshire by a similar score.
D Russell 0-1 G Christie
P Thomas 3-0 R Ramsay
C Thomas 1-0 M Burns
D Pawsey 2-1 G Dand
