Unofficial UK & Ireland Championship Belt

The premise of the championship belt is the same as those in boxing. It is based on the principle that whoever beats the current champion becomes the new champion.

As winner of the inaugural UK & Ireland Championship event in Preston on 12th June 2004, Shorab is taken to be the initial holder of the unofficial championship belt as well.

Only results against other UK & Ireland based players, in the open category of domestic or FISTF individual international tournaments, are considered. Results after overtime (ot) count for the purpose of deciding whether a successful “defence” of the title has been made, but shots (s) are ignored.

Unofficial World Championship Belt

Using the same principle as the UK & Ireland belt, the World championships belt changes possession when the holder is defeated in the open category of a FISTF international event.

As winner of the 2004 World Cup in Bologna, Italy, on 18 September, Giancarlo Giulianini is taken to be the initial holder of the unofficial championship belt as well.

Results after overtime (ot) count for the purpose of deciding whether a successful “defence” of the title has been made, but shots (s) are ignored.

The UKI Peripheral Belt

A championship belt that can only be won by those players based in the UK and Ireland, but ranked outside of the top 100 of FISTF’s world rankings at the point that a particular match is played. However a player who enters the top 100 whilst holding the belt shall be allowed to defend it.

Only results against other UK and Ireland based players in the open category of international and domestic events held in the UK and Ireland are considered. Results after overtime (ot) and on shots (s) count for the purpose of deciding whether a successful “defence” of the title has been made.

As eligibility is the same as that for FISTF satellite events, a fitting starting point for ownership of the belt is the first satellite tournament hosted within the UK and Ireland co-operative, in Kildare on 14 December 2003, which was won by Gary Moore, when he beat John Moore 3-1 in the final.

International Team Baton

Using the same principle as the other championship belts, the team baton changes hands when the holders are defeated in a FISTF international event, regardless of the strength of each team in that particular tournament (it is therefore less of a “championship”).

Ownership of the baton is ultimately by club, so should a “B” team gain possession of the baton, this would pass to the club’s “A” team for the start of the next tournament

The baton starts with TFC Mattersburg of Austria, as winners of FISTF’s Europa Cup for Clubs in October 2004.
